Last weekend, Drunkcyclists took to the Limbas like catholic priests on an altar boy. We had a good time, too. With 3 cases of brew in the pits, we kept natives happy. We were happy too because beer was on the prize list. The gun goes off.
We hit it hard since the official made an offer of a six pack for the winner of the first lap. Peter Webber led the way. In the last meters of that first lap, I tried to come around him but he was thirstier than I. I must wait.
In the meantime, there was a race. The lead group had settled to five with Darling Doug in the mix. Who would have guessed it would only take a few beers to make him go fast. He took the lead and I followed. I let get a little gap to see if the others would chase. We might as well have a little fun.
The pack decided it was early and did not chase. Webber was happy. He was going home with beer already. After a few laps, I made my move to bridge up to Doug alone. It was a feeble attempt since a case of beer laid in waiting for the big weeener. In my attempt the pack became singles and I was on my way for the DC team to post a first ever 1,2 finish.
But WHAM! I clipped barrier #1 which in turn slammed me into barrier #2 which in turn collided me with the earth which in turn warped my rear wheel. No worries. I got up, brushed off and headed on my way. I got caught and passed and hung on for dear life for a 3rd. Sometimes, barriers happen and Doug still won. I got third. Plus we walked away with 2 cases of good beer.

Race #2. Not as much excitement. The start official kindly waited for me to make a final adjustment before shooting off the start gun. We started in a slight freezing rain but it warmed back up to 50 degrees in the middle of the race, We had the beer in the pits again but the spectators had there own ideas. They decided to hang out at one of the run ups that led into small downhill that led into a rise in the course. Some would call this a jump and chants of jump jump jump rang through the freezing air. The "jump" was surrounded my spectators warming by a fire pit and pony keg. The UCI says no beer tents but the ACA is OK with it.
The race went on with Doug and I in the%

beer=happy feed zone folk. If I know my crew, drinking beer was the first thing on their minds as soon as they caught their breathe after the race.
